Nanocrystals and Nanoplasmonics

Co-chair: Prof Yuling Wang, Dr Qianqian Shi
Symposium Scope & Objectives

This symposium will explore the latest advancements in nanocrystals and nanoplasmonics, focusing on synthesis and characterization of nanocrystals and nanoplasmonics, functional nanocrystals and nanoplasmonics, and their applications in biosensors, life science, catalysis, and environmental monitoring. This session will bring together international experts working at the cross-discipline of nanocrystals and nanoplasmonics to discuss emerging innovations and translational challenges, and exchange ideas on advancing our nanocrystal and nanoplasmonic research in fundamental and translational levels.

Key Topics include

Materials Synthesis & Characterization

  • Advanced synthesis methods (colloidal, solid-state, Photolithography)
  • Surface chemistry and ligand engineering
  • Optical, electronic, and magnetic properties
  • Plasmon-enhanced spectroscopy (Raman, fluorescence)

Nanophotonic and Light-Matter Interactions

  • Quantum dots and single-photon emitters
  • Nonlinear and ultrafast plasmonic effects
  • Hybrid nanophotonic systems (e.g., plasmon-exciton coupling)
  • Light trapping and guiding in nanostructures

Applications in Sensing and Imaging

  • Plasmonic biosensors and chemical sensors
  • Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) applications
  • Super-resolution imaging and bio-labelling
  • Nanocrystals for bioimaging and contrast enhancement

Energy Conversion and Photocatalysis

  • Plasmon-assisted solar energy harvesting
  • Nanocrystals in photocatalysis and water splitting
  • Hot electron generation and charge transport
  • Nanoplasmonics for light-driven chemical reactions

Target Audience

This symposium will appeal to physicists, chemists, material scientists, engineers, and industry professionals working in photonics, optics, nanotechnology, material science, biosensors, and environmental monitoring. The session aims to foster interdisciplinary discussions on the future of nanocrystal and nanoplasmonic and their real-world impact.
