Zhikao Li is a Senior Lecturer and ARC Early Career Industry Fellow in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Monash University. His research focuses on ion separation, water treatment, organic solvent nanofiltration, and functional materials. He leads several multidisciplinary projects, including sustainable lithium extraction from brines, rigid-membrane fabrication for crude oil fractionation, and physics-informed machine learning models for membrane and adsorption processes. His work integrates materials design, interfacial transport analysis, and process engineering to address urgent challenges in clean energy and resource recovery. He is currently advancing high-performance membranes and adsorbents for the extraction of critical minerals from both natural resources and industrial waste streams.
